Been feeling hopeless lately. Any ideas?
About me: I'm a guy, early 30s, well educated, good job, decent looking, etc. But I've been feeling hopeless lately. Been single for a long while. I ended my last relationship for the right reasons after 3 years, but haven't been able to find someone that excites me and likes me. There have been girls who are interested, but I just don't feel attracted/excited about them. The ones I am excited about are not into me -- classic problem. In fact, there's this stunning girl I had a crush on who seemed to also have a good head on her shoulders, but ended up sending me totally confusing signals (she has a BF in another city but was flirting me). Meanwhile, career-wise, even though I graduated from a top business school and got into the most desirable company, I am 4-5 years older than the rest of the people starting. All my friends got their MBAs sooner and are partners at the firm. They're all married. I feel old for the dating game and unsure what to do. I want to settle down. Any ideas?
The best fix is just to get out there and meet more women-- sometimes a lot more, depending on how picky you are.
I met my girlfriend after working for 2 years in a *very* high traffic sales job (meeting about 1,800 people every weekend, for 2 years straight), in nearly every corner of the major city I live in. In retrospect, it was almost impossible for me to *NOT* meet an excellent match given that much face time with that many different people. (That's one of the reasons I haven't been on Y!A as much recently
.
If this is not an option for you, you might go back and look at some of your past relationships. Were there any common bonds shared by these women? Did they share an occupation? Maybe they all belonged to one religion?
Any commonalities will help you to narrow your search, and focus on the types of women who will (most likely) be a better match for you... assuming your past relationship patterns are ones you would want to continue in the future. If the matches were not good, then at least you may know what you should avoid in the future.
Hope it helps, and good luck!
